6-284

Hi i want to biuld a 6-284 and i was woundering what would be the best action for shooting varmit and target

Thanks for any help

Depends on your budget....in custom- pick one- Stiller, Bat, Borden, Kelbly, etc....
In factory, Savage or Remington.

I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but do not want to create duplications.

Larry Bartholome recently stated that one stage he strongly considered the 6 Remington for the 115 DTAC bullet. That made me think of the 6-284.

Well, there's nothing as interesting as new projects and dreaming of that magical cartridge/bullet combination that will give you the edge. If you already shoot a 284 Win, a 6-284 will only mean a reamer and a seating die. This make the 6-284 more attractive than the other big 6mms like the 6 CM or 243 AI,which is as far as I understand the only 6 mms that will push the 115 /117 gr bullets past 3000 fps without unnecessary pressure).

I know that the 6-284 is quite popular as a varminter shooting the 80 - 87 gr bullets at, I believe, 3500 + fps, but I've never heard of anyone using it to shoot the 115 gr,or new 117 gr) bullet exclusively at 1000 y.

What is the general opinion out there of the 6-284 as a possible 1000 y BR option and specifically:
1. estimated velocity with the 115 / 117 gr bullets.
2. expected barrel life.
3. general accuracy.
4. advantages / disadvantages over 6x47 Lapua,I'm in the process of building one), 6.5-284 or 7-284 at 1000 y.

If the 6-284 is worth consideration, what will be the suggested freebore for the reamer?

It seems as if the 6-284 with 115/117 DTAC bullets is not really regarded as a viable LR BR / F Class option.

Is the 243 AI a viable option?

Your opinions will be greatly appreciated.
