6-284 and new IMR powders

Any 6-284 shooters using any of the new IMR powders...4451,4955 or 7977 with 105 bullets?

Dunno about 6-284 but I just last week added IMR 4451 to the group of propellants I'm working with for a 7mm cartridge built on 308 brass but with 13% more case capacity than a 7-08.

Running Berger's 180 Hybrid I can get 2,840 fps / SD 5 with no overt pressure signs. It appears to be virtually identical in performance to H4350 which has been almost impossible to obtain.

What is this case you speak of??????? Sounds great for a 160gr TMKs

I've been burning Re#23 in my 6/284 51.5grs behind a 87gr V-maxs ( 3600+) Blew MT prairie to pieces out to 400 yds. I've been burning IMR 4451 out of my 22/250 behind 75gr A-max's ( 3400FPS) did the same thing. Thumbs up on both those powders. But did they reduce copper fowling ? Still testing and evaluating

It's called a 284INCH by the originator, RGC here otherwise known as Robert Chombart.

Uses 308 brass & 7-08 dies. Basically a 7-08 with 13 - 14% more propellant. I'm getting 2,800+ fps w/ H4350, IMR4451, RL17, N550 behind Berger's 180 Hybrid. Right now those first two are what I'm focused on developing for 1000 yards.

There's a 260INCH too, has the same short neck & can be run with 260 dies.

Finally got to do some shooting. When I started my build on this rifle the first thing I did was search and ask for powder types. Got responses here and other forums. So, I tried 4451,4955 and H-1000. I remember a fellow writing the following...Try as many powders as you think might work and then put them aside and load up some RL 22. The magic started to happen as if a switch had been flipped. Now I'm going to start working on seating depth and see what happens. Had a 4 shot group at a little less than 1/2" but, my last shot went slightly off and I knew it as soon as I pulled the trigger. Just couldn't stop the finger. LOL

Not trying to deter you from trying other things but it's kinda hard to beat RE-33 in the 6-284 with the 105s, every one I've seen that has tried it got better velocity and less pressure than other poweders. the one I'm messing with now has gone over 3600 with the 105 Amaxs and RE-33

Iam really wanting to redo my old 25-06 into a really fast 6mm,,just necking down 25-06 brass to take 6mm bullets and load and shoot would be great,,

these new slow powders sound really good,,

Hey what's your load with Re#33 and the 105s ?

What type of accuracy are you getting at those velocities?

Well, maybe I should also try some RE-33.Guess I'll have to wait as I had to send my barreled action back to the gunsmith. Matter of fact, I had minimally considered RE-33 but, couldn't find any data as to a safe starting point. Maybe I was looking in all the wrong places!
