6/250 reamer help please

Hello all -

I'm trying to put together a "no turn" 6/250 using WIN or REM brass. I got a reamer blueprint from Pacific for the Bob Brackny reamer, but it has a .270" neck OD. My dummy rounds measure .271". I also noted on the cartridge blueprint page on this site that the 243 Win and 243 AI use a .276" dimension, indicating thicker brass yet.

So, does anyone know of a readily available reamer for my task?

If not, what neck dimension should I ask for to get a no-turn, no-fuss 6/250 chamber?

Thanks, Leo Ahearn.

are your dummy rounds winney brass or remmey brass, choose one and go 2thous over.. so if your brass is .271 now with a bullet seated in the neck then you may want a .273 neck.

I would use Rem brass as i am fireforming cases for my 22-250Ai and i am using REm CAses and all have formed perfectly i had some Win factory loaded ammo so i fired 2 and both cases had a 1/2" split down the side from half way down the neck to way past the shoulder it is crap and the splits confirm it. I do hope you have better luch with yours as you are not fireforming but you do have to neck the cases i would anneal after the first firing if you have to use the Win cases or i believe you will end up with split necks verry rapidly. And as stated 2 thou over loaded neck dimention will work well for you get a Rem case and measure it as well so you can use either in the chamber make the clearence 2 thou on the largest loaded neck.

I am planning on using Lapua 22-250 for a 6mm International. It is about .43 at Brunos and comes annealed and ready to size for my purpose. I am confused with all of the different 6mms on 250Savage and 22-250 cases and haven't really checked to see what if any differences exist beside the neck on the parent 22-250 and 250 Savage brass much less all the difference on the 'offspring' cases. PS: I saw a 6-250 .274" on Kelby's web site the other day.

I have a number of 6mm/22-250 reamers, and for highpower with a "no neck turn" set up we typically used .275". Personally, I would not try to cut it too close at the neck because factory brass is all over the place both in neck thickness and in uniformity and a lot of stuff comes with a big burr at the neck. For "no muss, no fuss" give yourself a little room.

Kelblys .274 is great....but ....why not stop and think about the 6 X 47 ....it usese Lapua brass and is much simpler to form..and uses small primer pocket and flash hole...just a point to ponder....you make up your own mind....just trying to help...Roger
