6-250 and RL 17 loads with 105-115 bullets

Since RL 17 gives such good velocity in the 6xc, 6x47 Lapua and similar cartridges, I was wondering if anyone tried it in a 6mm-250 yet with heavy bullets.

Thanks,

Chris

Definately higher velocity, but the question is how much. The similar capacity 6mm cartridges gain 200-300 fps with 105 ish bullets. I'm sure the 6mm-250 should do close to the same.

I have a 6mm/250 too and wondering what might be a good starting load for RL-17. I currently run 105 amaxs at about 2850 fps, 31 grs of Varget. My PD load is 87 vmaxs at about 3250 fps, 34 grains of Varget. RL-17 might be interesting.

I suppose if we compare water capacity of the 6-250 with the 6xc, 6x47 Lapua and any other similar cartridges, we could see what others load in them and go from there.

Just tried RL17 in my 6x47L a couple weeks ago. Broughton 8 tw @ 26". 40gr of H4350 was top end with velocity of 3040ish. Started with 39gr of RL17 and laddered load to 40gr. Velocity with 40gr was 3166 for a 10 shot string with SD of 9 and sub .5 moa for the 10rds I had loaded. So far accuracy is as good or better than H4350 and velocity 125fps more. Can still go to perhaps 41gr but so satisfied with the 40gr load I may just shoot it as is.

Anxious to try it in my XC and 6.5x47L but might have to wait until spring as testing loads in SD this time of year isn't a real picnic and weather is rarely cooperative.

Thinking probably 37gr about the starting load for the 6/250???

Respectfully,
Dennis
