6-06 Load data

I'm in the process of completing my 6mm-06 rifle. 26" barrel with 1:8 twist varmint contour. I plan to use Berger 108 gr, and start with Ramshot Magnum. Not for much info other than some say to use 240 WBY load data. Any 6-06 users out there that are using this cartridge?

Yep & love it...But I'm shooting 95gr SMK for groundhogs. If I can help in any way let me know.

Good to hear. I'm going to start off with 108's and maybe shoot some 75 or 85 gr for squirrels down the road. I had a 243 win shooting 58gr at 3800 fps was impressive, pretty much vaporized the squirrels. I bet the 6-06 would do the same.

I can't help with the powder u mentioned but I'm running 50.5grs of RL23 under a Hornady 105 bthp. I'm still fine tuning the load some but I'm consistently getting 1/2" groups. It's an 8 twist Kreiger barrel 27" long

I get consistent 1/2" groups with 57.0 gr Ramshot mag. Shooting 105 a-max out of a #4, 8 twist rock creek at 26" and running really close to 3,250 fps. I'm shooting an improved version though, so you might want to start a few grains lower.

trailrider121, can i ask why your goign to use the 108gr berger over the 105gr hunting VLD or the 105gr Hybrid?

I got a great deal on the 108's. Should work well for my intentions.

I ran 53.5gr of retumbo in mine. Never did crony it but it was flat out to 600 enough that I got bored with it. I was shooting the 105bthp

Never worked with the 108's, but my 6-06 really shines with RL-25 and 105 Berger Hybrids. Have had good luck with MRP as well. I use a combination of Quickload and published load data for the 240 Wby. 54.0 gr of RL25 and a 105 Hybrid is my petload. Runs a skosh over 3300 fps. It's superbly accurate.

Very good info guys. The 105gr data should be close to 108gr, minus a few grains. Retumbo is a great powder, and might try it also. This cartridge is going to be a laser.

I'd start about 50-51gr of retumbo. My primers didn't last but 4 loads. I was using Norma 25-06 brass.
