5mm Remington Magnum Centerfire questions for Rem 591/592

Hello all,

I recently bought a set of dies at an auction and found some extra stuff in the die box. Can anyone tell me what I have and who made it? It appears to be a conversion for centerfire for the 591 and 592. The instructions mention a headspace gauge which I don't see included with this. How hard is it to swap? Does anyone make brass for it? I found Quality Cartridge mentioned online. Can I make brass from any existing cartridge? Thanks.

I had 5mm and thought about converting it to the Craig but I really was not that interested in the rifle to begin with. Sold the rifle for a good profit. I still have the paperwork for the conversion somewhere. I think it was a good idea at the time due to the lack of good, reasonably priced ammunition.

there were two conversion kits at one time about 25 years ago. One was the Craig. I can't recal the other name, but possibly Reed? Or Schaeffer? There was a gent, and it might be Lowell, who was making the conversion and moved out to Washington state I think. Then again, maybe multiple memories are getting mixed up in by brain box.

You might try a search here on Eagle View...I think he used to post here on AS.

The brass was available for a while commercialy from a boutique manufacturer, maybe Eagle view or another. Much of this was on Saubier, and sadly that resevoir of knowledge is lost.
