Wondering where to get some extractor springs for a 540x. Picked up a couple of the rifles, but found out why they were so cheap, missing the springs. Not much fun prying the cases out every shot, although they shot fairly well.

Is the spring missing or just weak ? The spring goes around the bolt head holding in the ejector and extractor , if it is weak try just squeezing it “”gently”” between your fingers to close it up a fraction of an inch a few thousandths

Missing. Do you know the width of the spring and its thickness? Might have to try making one

The 540 and 580 series Remingtons use the same bolt, you may have better luck searching for 580 extractor springs since there were a lot more 580's sold than 540's.

That was going to be my suggestion if the spring was missing , good someone else did and you found one ,,,,,, let us know how it works out and how it shoots
