500 bench shooting

Hi, I'm new so forgive me if the question has been asked and answered before. I was hoping to get some feed back on the 30 BR for either 500 mt bench rest or Rifle Silhouette. Any comments would be appreciated.

The 30BR is the king of point blank score shooting.
Joe Entrikin was score shooter of the year using the 30BR,It makes huge holes in the target which is a big plus for the score shooter).
For 500 yards I think you are going to find the 30BR somewhat lacking, not enough velocity. I would rather shoot a 6BR at 500 yards.

For silhouette shooting you need a round with enough terminal energy to kill the rams and not have too much recoil that the shooter gets hammered. The 30BR does not have enough terminal energy for rams. Most are using the 7mm-08.

Thanks for the feed back Chuck. I was thinking of maybe using the 30BR for Fly shooting. I don't know if you have a Fly shoot over there. It's for group and score at 500 mts.
I shoot a 6.5BR in silhouette at the moment. When I do my bit it works well.

I haven't actually shot the competition yet - I am hoping too. As far as I know it's shot at 500 mts. The target has score rings and a "fly" in the centre of the 10 ring. Scoring is based on the high score and the smallest group. I believe you get a patch for hitting the fly. There is a 200 mts shoot for rimfires.
