I find my Sightron to be more versatile. Setting it somewhere between th 6X and the 24X power covers from plinking through bench rest very nicely. I also find the target dot very helpful.

would you guys give me a list of used sightron scopes to consider and best eras of sightron to consider? I buy 90% of my scopes used.

That's the only way I buy them and, I've found some really great buys. The latest was a B&L Balvar 6-24 which came in the original box with two different length sun-shades, extra set of setting turrets, the cloth protector, and original papers. It could pass as never having been used or even mounted~! Made in Japan, B&L scopes were considered top-of-the-line when they were in producion.
I don't know when my 4-16 Sightron was made, but it was a lot of scope for the money. It was a super buy when I found one that's super clean and still in the box but previously owned.

I really like my Sightron SIII 10-50 X 60 Target Dot 1/8th In. adjustments. I use one for rimfire 100 yds, centerfire 100, 200, 300 and 600 yards. Great scopes.

For benchrest, S3 45x45 ED, S3 10-50x60 ED, or if you are willing to spurge, SV 10-50x60 ED. Fine crosshair or fine crosshair with target dot.
I have a S3 10-50x60 ED and a SVIII 5-40X56 ED, the SV has much better glass IMO, at considerably more cost.

Our local club has a 22BR match and the MD varies the distance each month. This month we shot 75 yards and the distances we shoot as well are either 50 or 100 yards. I found Sightron 10-50 scopes ideal for this match. Very clear glass, good choices of reticles and priced well below you target. Check with @lancexxx on this forum for a good deal on one.
I have what they call the MOA-2 reticle in both of mine. I would suggest getting 1/8 minute click turret adjustments.

I'm thinking of selling a BSA Platinum straight 24X with fine crosshairs, target dot and screw on lens caps orTasco fixed 24X with fine crosshairs and target dot. Both look like they were never mounted and have covers.
I recently came across a B&L BALVAR in 6-24 in the original box with 2 sun shades, an extra set of target turrets, fine crosshair reticle ( sadly no target dot). Well see if it's any better than the BSA or TASCO. I have my doubts

Anyone have experience with a B&L 6-24~? Just asking because they were at the top of the heap in their day in terms of quality of glass and clarity.
They're available today (used of course) for $600 or less.
