5.7x28mm

cool i'm in the process of having tc custom shop build one for me so I have another plinker. i already have a 22 k hornet and my daughter has taken that over and was just wanting to try something different

It will be interesting how the little bugger turns out. Now the waiting game begins 10 -12 week wait for that barrel. i guess the first week of june isn't to bad.

price of ammo is def. a little cheaper over a 22hornet and also with better factory loaded bullets. the v-max round would make a heck of a critter ridder. i was thinking about getting a 5.7x28 upper for my ar...but i jst can't really justify it since the .223 is cheaper for me to shoot since i reload. also since i'm varmint hunt alot the .223 also has a little more punch. 5.7x28 would def. be good plinker tho.

i just picked up a hornady reloading die set and 500 rds of brass from topbrass so i plan on reloading this caliber. Might be a waste, hopefully i can push the shoulders back enough after they have been fired in an automatic it kind of rounds the shoulders off. I guess they reload them for the autos so maybe it won't be that bad. Also picked up a primer pocket swager to take care of the primer pocket issue.

I have the ar57 upper and it does a number on pdogs from 30 to 150 yds. I found it is almost as quiet as the 17HMR but way more lethal.

I been think of doing the same. What sight's are you using?

Leupold 3-9x40 with warne ar rings, and with this set up you can load the clip without removing the scope. Also I cut the top 1/4 " off a 30 round clip and removed the spring and it has worked great for a brass catcher.

Thanks, so a 40mm obj and 1" high rings enables the mag to be changed. Thats what I needed to know. I better get kickin on an a 57 upper.

The load data I found is not adequate so I will play with some other powders and keep looking.
Anyone found a honestly good load for the AR57 and 35 or 40 grain bullet?

I know this is an old post but i have finaly had a chance to play with my ar57 upper. i have found for mine that 5.8 grains of true blue, cci 400, berger 40 molly, seated to a oal of 1.530 seems to be the best for me so far. crono today was 2218. i need to shoot this at 100 since i only did 50 yards today shot four five shot 1/4" groups with this load. defentaly a touchy round to load for. I only wish i could get the 40 Vmax or SBK to shoot as well as or close to the Bergers but so far the best average I have got from them was in the low 4s at 50.
