The Marines in 1942 were given the Reising machine gun, it cost $60.00 to make and the Thompson cost $200.00 to make. The Marines had the bolt action Springfield 03 rifle and the Reising on Guadalcanal.

In the first video below you can see it had feeding problems.

Amazing that a piece of '42 brass just shows up under normal use.

I would check to see if you have more and set it aside as a conversation piece.

All special stuff.

I have had some veterans give me or show me some cases they carried home from those Pacific Islands. That is one thing, but having it just pop up in your range brass is like finding a rare coin or four leaf clover.

A friend gave me a 20 round box of 45 that was head stamped 39 FA. Frankfort arsenal, i had seen on one of the other forums I go that one of the members was a cartridge collector. I sent the box to him and you would have thought it was a gold brick.

I found this at the range, a couple weeks ago. Anybody know what the “red” is? Tracer? There’s a 62 in the mix.

^^ Those are just current production red powder coated bullets - probably Acme "lipstick" bullets. I shoot 1,000s in 9mm.

Just wanted to add a little to the thread. Here is a pic of some oldies but still goodies. 100 rounds ready to serve if called to duty.

I will look to see if I have some other old casings that I have reloaded or retired.
