457 bolt knob

When I was looking for one of the Area 419 knobs, they were out of stock, and besides, they were a little bigger than what I wanted. I've got a good lathe, and had some 7/8" dia 6061 T6 rod handy, so bought a spiral fluted M6x1 tap from MSC, turned this one, drilled & tapped it, and after trying it on my 457 American, decided it was G-T-G, so CeraKoted it with a mix of graphite black/tungsten in an attempt to come closer to matching CZ's new nitride finish than plain black would.

Very nice! I've tried to find something similar to that. There just aren't a lot of choices with that thread. The Bergara knob fits but those aren't available either that I can find. I'd like to have a small lathe for little projects like this but I don't know if I'd use it enough to justify it. Nice work!

Buy a lathe and you’ll never look back. In a few months you’ll wonder how you ever did without one.

I’ve made quite a few. For me they are fun to make since there isn’t any crazy tolerances to hold and I can try different shapes, sizes, finished/colors, and designs. (The ones pictured below aren’t on a CZ)

Which one? It would have to go to the basement so it can't be too big.
Does your basement have a walk out door, or would it need to go down the stairs? A friend of mine managed to get an old 10x36 Sheldon down his stairs with flat boards, ropes and some strong friends. Some disassembly was required, along with reassembly, and it gave him a chance to give it a really good clean up while apart. A good quality bench model wouldn’t be so taxing, and could probably fill the bill for you.
