Ok for each his own as powerful as this cartilage is I see no reason for second shot. I have never had to fire a second shot with the 450 boom down . Now if you’re talking varmints then I can see a second follow up shot yes shooting say at a running coyote or something.

I had a chance to shoot a ruger American ranch rifle in .450 Bushmaster a while ago.
For the money, a very slick running action, and easy to shoot fast without getting beat up. Loved it!

I bought a Mossberg and I am happy. My brother in law bought a Ruger American, it is fine except for the magazine hanging down which I hate plus I did not want a muzzle brake. I bought a Mossberg, I like it. Shoots 1 inch at 100 and about 2.5 at 200. I did add a muzzle brake, its a beast. I bought a Harrels radial that tamed it down quite a bit. Overall for the 299.00 I paid for it the Mossberg has been a good choice. I have shot several large Michigan bucks and it flops them down. I gained a fair amount of accuracy by loading about 200fps above all the factory ammo. I think they loaded with ARs in mind.

i helped him sight it in and his mossy shot fine. i just like singles and levers.

the magazine would bother me if it stuck down.

I have a Ruger American, not the 450, but it is very impressive for the money.
I have 4 friend's from hunting lease all with Ruger Ranch 450's they got them on sale for ~ $400 several years ago. They all shoot Hornady factory loads and they shoot amazingly well out to 200....everything they have shot from hogs to yotes to deer has been DRT

The Ruger American is a "no frills" gun. The finish on the barrels are terrible. The bolts are a little clunky, the triggers are not smooth or precise. The stocks are absolute flimsy garbage but... Damn they shoot good! I have been able to shoot very impressive groups from mine (450) with a multitude of loads ranging from 240 gn supersonic all the way up to 420 gn cast bullets going subsonic. I HATE the muzzle blast from the little short barreled bugger, so I yanked the brake off and use a Hybrid 46 suppressor to make the experience more enjoyable. If you just want something that does what it's supposed to do, then- like me, you'll be okay with the Ruger, but if you want to do it in style or grace, look elsewhere ;)

It is a very good choice in states where shotguns or muzzle loaders have been required--I have an ar-15 in this cal--got the upper from Bear Creek--it functions fine with no issues --get 2400 fps with 240/250 gr bullets and lil' gun powder--accuracy ~1" at 100 yds--Roger

CVA has always made a good barrel, their in-line muzzleloaders typically outshot ones several times more expense. the Cascade is a really nice budget oriented rifle.
