450 bushmaster

Ok this might be a little unorthodox but bear with me. 450 bushmaster arnt really available around here especially at a good price. Neither are 283. But I was wondering if I took some of my 30-06 that got messed up during reloading, trimmed them down to the right length and did a real lite load the first time. Would the case stretch to the correct size. They are thicker that a bushmaster..... what do yall think.

While 450 Bushmaster and 30-06 share the 0.473 rim diameter, the body base diameter of the 30-06 is 0.471 and the 450 is 0.500

That base diameter change would be asking too much from that brass.

On the other hand, Starline makes runs of 450 every so often for a fair price. I would say new Starline is a much better option at just $0.66 per piece. Looks like they are taking orders now.

^^^This^^^ RegionRat hit the nail on the head. You can also order factory offerings from online retailers if you're in a pinch.

The only other case usable is by cutting down the 284 Winchester
brass. Using 06 brass, and even with a light load, is a recipe for case
failure and serious injury.

The use of 284 brass will require you to inside ream the case in the case neck area. Just expanding 284 brass will leave you with a case that has too thick of a neck and will not chamber after seating a bullet.
