If someone has a RESIZED 45-70 case could you please measure your case size by placing the mouth of the case against the caliper base and give me the measurement of the diameter at that point? The caliper jaws are roughly 1.6" long and that measurement will give me a guide. I wind up with .487 at that diameter of the very slightly tapered case. Thanks.

What brand of caliper are you using. I get .486 on a sized one and .487 on a new one.

Starrett and Mauser......Maybe it is correct Jon and I am not used to sizing such a long 'straight' wall case....seems like a good amount of force needed. I have to fire and measure an unsized case. Maybe my chamber is on the large side. Lube etc is all fine.
Thanks

What brand of brass is this again and I find the rcbs lube is the best type for long tapered cases.

When I size mine they size like any other case like 30-06 etc. You have to fire one and measure that one, then we can see the difference.
