reloading for deer hunting rifle using sierra 300 gr hp and am seeing 2.525 overall length in manual and i just barely seated one and put it action and closed it and pulled bullet out and measured 2.690 so im thinking starting 2.680 or should i start at manual (2.525 ) and move it out . thanks in advance barry

Depends if your load work up method is to find powder charge or OAL first. With a single shot you really only need enough bullet in the case to keep it from moving....I'd probably start .050 off find the velocity I want and play with seat depth from there. But it's for deer hunting so the accuracy requirement are likely a bit more open. I have different requirements for a toys vs tools.

Have you tested factory ammo in the rifle?

Making a big bore straight walled cartridge designed for Holy Black shoot is not the same as making a bottlenecked cartridge shoot, esp if you are loading cast.

If you are shooting smokeless powder the case is way oversized for everything that will work. You are better off pushing the bullet back than worrying about jump.

I'm not loading cast im loading 300 g jacketed hollow pt and yes I'm loading for deer hunting but the animal deserves the most accurate bullet i can make.. and i have tried factory ammo and at fifty dollars per twenty im reloading .thanks for your knowledge and replies greatly appreciated.

I have found that case trim length at 2.100 and COL at 2.550 works well in the CVA.
