Shoot a silhouette match yesterday with my FA 44 Mag. When I got home went to put brass in tumbler and saw this on 6 cases out of 55 cases. I purchased brass new and this is the 5‘th firing. Any thoughts?

You have told us nothing about your reloading practices. Can you summarize what your practices (dies, how far down, etc.)?
If you use a carbide die, and size down near the case head, it leaves a distinct mark where the carbide stops sizing. This can over stress the brass and cause premature failure. Don't know if you are doing this or not.
Yes, for starters what was the load and bullet?
Interesting both failures are in nearly the identical area and at least to me look very much like each other in size and shape.
I wouldn't think a Freedom Arms would be the cause of any defects, but doesn't it seem as though that area of the case is being worked excessively? Generous chamber?

I use Redding Titanium carbide Sizer die and just looked at a loaded round and I see the faintest ring where the sizer stopped sizing. Held a split case next to loaded one and the split is right at the ring. Sure looks like carbide sizer Caused brass failure.

Maybe you have chambers on the big side and a die that sizes to the small side

Redding has solved the problem that has plagued ordinary carbide dies since their invention. The little ring in
a standard carbide die had to do double duty. It sized the top of the case to properly hold the bullet but then
continued to size the whole body of the case as well. Unfortunately, these two areas need to be sized at
different diameters, so carbide dies of the past have always been a compromise.
Redding's solution to this problem is a unique (patent pending) design, incorporating two carbide
rings within one sizing die. The upper ring is positioned to size only the bullet retention portion of
the case while the other is located to properly size the case body without overworking the brass. Sized
cases will not only look and function better but brass life will increase.

I reloaded 44 mags very hot for decades. 18.5 grs Blue Dot with mag primers behind a 240 gr Speer jacketed magnum soft point. Dies were carbide and full length resized. Only Win. brass did that to me at about the same amount of times reloaded. Rem. brass was thicker and lasted a lot longer. Got about 18 reloadings with Rem. That was back in the 70s. Don't know if today's quality is the same.
