4120 FPS in a 223

Ever hear of the 223 NOVX ? Full Page Ad in the May Rifleman . A Hyper-Velocity Tactical 223 using a 35 Gr Poly / Copper Bullet for Barrels with 1in7 to 1in10 Twist. Uses a high Nickel Stainless Steel Case . Now , if they would just make a Case for the "Redline " !

My guess it may run as fast or a tad more in a slower twist like one-in-twelve.

Or even a fourteen twist barrel.. Likely be more accurate due to better stability.

i'd like to know what pressure they were at.
i run a 26" tight chambered 223 with 52/53 at 3500/3600.
they are way above that.

Like many , I'm always interested in pushing the envelope safely . Just looked at their info ... NovXammo.com . They have a 9mm with 65 Gr. @1710 FPS in a few variations .

In the article they said they were still in safe pressure areas.... Yet still playing with different powders....

I have found when dealing with light bullets you can get away with a lot hotter loads. By the time you start to build any pressure the bullet is already on it's way. I load 40gr Vmax's with 25gr of 4198 in my 12 and my 14 twist 223 and it is a 4000 fps round. And 26gr of 4198 with 35gr VmaX'S for 4200 fps and get 4 to 5 firings out of the brass.

I have 2 a pro chrono and a F1 "the green one" both barrels are 26" they have both been set back once.
the distance is some where around 20 to 30 feet. I have also shot over other brands and all were close to the same FPS. I also like to jump the bullets 50 to 100 thou which helps with pressure. OAL is 2.100 some times I yank out the red tip from the Vmax's mainly cause I can LOL.

These are what I call powder cast bullets not traditional bullets... In the article it showed how devastating they are in 9mm... Their +p 9mm has more energy than a .45 as stated... I haven't shot any of them.. if you a NRA member the article is in the new magazine.... Although they have been around for awhile in pistol.... You would need special dies to load the stainless steel cases...

Those bullets being poly copper are as long or longer than a 69gr Sierra.
They are light, but require the fast twist to stabilize due to their excessive length.
I used to be production manager for a company here in Tampa that manufactured them in a 40gr weight.
Ruag now owns and operates the company.
Tag word would be "Copper Matrix".
