40X center fire spring and firing pin

I have a Remington 40X center fire in which I would like to replace the firing pin and spring. Are those parts interchangeable with the Remington 700 short action? Suggestions on type of pin and spring would be appreciated. Rifle is not used for competition.
Thanks, Dave

Same Same as the 700. Any of the pin/springs from Midway, Brownell's or Remington should suite your needs. Variations with lighter pins/ heavier springs etc can be had but keeping lube/grease on cocking surfaces becomes more essential the heavier you get with springs. Sometimes to much spring weight can cause vibrations etc conducisive to accuracy. Haven't heard of anyone selling defective pins/springs so think you are GTG with any of them.

Gre-tan rifles has a excellant FP assembly for your 40X, he can also bush your FP
hole for a smaller diameter pin..

If you're changing parts to say you did-install an OEM Remington firing pin assy & shoot the Bbl out.

If the bolt face is burnt from blanked primers-have it bushed.

Aluminum shanked-S/S &/or Ti tipped aftermarket firing pins will break in short order.
