39 grain BK IN 20 VT

HAS ANYBODY TRIED THE 39 BK IN A 1/12 TWIST VARTARG WHAT POWDER LOAD?

A barrel with a twist rate of at least 1/12 or faster will just stabilize the 39 gr BK. The problem is that 1/12 is on the edge. Barrels marked 1/12 can vary from 1/11.5 to 1/12.5. If you get one that is 1/12+ you could have problems. A barrel marked with a 1/11 twist would be your safest choice.

I have had good luck with H4198 and H322. They both work if you keep the velocity under 3500 fps. I prefer H322. The case capacity will stop you before the pressure reaches max. which should give you about 3450 fps depending on the brand of brass you are using. The 100% filled case has given me very low SD's.

If you are looking for max performance in the 20VT w/40 class bullets your powder is AA2200. You can get some amazing results, but the loads are hot. If you want to try this, start at about 19 grs & work your way up.

I run 19/H322 with moly 40 V's...12 twist Pac Nor...Rem 7.5's

Salvage s/shot.....19.5/322 produced hard bolt lift...cratered primers

I shoot the 39's with H4198 @ right around 3500 fps. I worked up to 18 grs with cci 400's but pierced a couple of primers so switched to rem 7.5's and backed off to 17.8 grs. Still get sub .5 moa. very happy with this combo in 3 different guns.

6xcshooter - I run H322 @ 20.5 grains for 3450 fps. It seems to be a mild load in my gun. Barrels do very in velocity. Seated in to the lands or out of the lands can make a difference. Also, the difference might be the brass. Mine are new LC 11 formed cases. The various brands of brass do very in capacity. What I like best is that this combination gives me a very wide accuracy node.
