370 Sako Mag Help ??

I'm sure I'm probably digging up an old topic but I really need help with some load data if anyone's worked this up. Folks wonder why this came about but it is not just a necked up 35 Whelen. Sako designed and Federal too, a thicker web to handle new series 500 VV powders and they also robbed a bit of the neck length and moved the shoulder up a bit for more powder room. This nets similar performance of 375 H&H with about the kick of a Whelen. Can't tell what powder Fed uses as they would like to sell their ammo (about $85-$90 a box!!) I've got Fed nickle brass (370 Sako Mag headstamp) and 286gr Barnes TSX to start with. Charges ?? Primers ?? Any help...Thanks

Z-Hat Custom (Fred Zeglin) has been working with this cartridge for years (back when it was the Sako 9.3x66 and he was having brass made). He can offer help with loads.
www.z-hat.com is his contact site.
I load the 9.3x62 and use Large Rifle primers (Fed. Match) and 57.5 gr.Reloader 15 powder for 2350-2400 fps with Barnes 286 TSX. The Barnes bullets take up a significantly greater amount of case capacity compared to jacketed bullets. It also seems to me that since the bullet seats so far into the 370 case, one might have to partially seat, turn the cartridge upside down to let some of the powder surround the base of the bullet, then finish seating. Over all length for the 370 is the same as the 9.3x62 so relative to the cartridge base the bullet is in the same place with the case moved up around it. Would love to hear what kind of velocities you are able to reach with the powders available to us.
Good luck!
Mike T.

I know this is an old thread but did you put together any data yet? I'm working on a 370 now.
