357 maximum dies

Well I found out from the SP forum that I could use standard 357 dies to reload for 357maximum and there was no need to buy special dies to reload for 357maximum

Lyman offers a separate die set for Maximum. Redding has it available as Custom,non-carbide, $160, and 4 months delivery). Lee ignores the issue altogether. Buy what you like, but you might end up having to cut the top off of your sizing die. The Maximum case is 0.315" longer than the Magnum's.

Like being in school, you will learn more doing your own homework, and be less prone to repeating others' errors.

I gave redding an email and asked if I could use the 357 standard dies for the 357 max.. His reply was yes you can.. and that is what he uses in his 357 max. So I ordered them. Like you said, I will be learning by doing. I am just starting to reload and didnt really want to make any mistakes. I really hope that I dont have to cut the top off though.

As you now recognize, your latest approach has its benefits. Should you have any problem with their recommended dies, they should be able to rectify the situation without your having to resort to heroic measures. I would hang on to the e-mail for that eventuality.
