350 Legend heavy bullet

Trying too locate a heavyweight bullet for a subsonic suppressed 350 Legend. A friend of mine has a AR, and wants a heavyweight .355” 190-200 gr for whopping whitetail deer within 100 yards. No luck with Barnes, or Lehigh. Winchester only has a 170 gr, but not sure if it would expand at subsonic velocities.

Might I suggest the 165 FTX bullet. Groups about 5/8" out of my Ruger American. Its what I have loaded for Whitetail. If not that, the 180 Rem 357 max bullets or maybe the 180gr. Hornady single shot pistol bullets if you can find any of either. Don't know if the Speer 180gr would expand or even fit, as its a .358" slug

contact Maker Bullets they make a lot of heavy for caliber bullets for subsonic use. they are either expanding or fracturing all copper bullets

Hawk Bullets has 200 and 250 grain bullets. Not sure how they'll seat and feed in an AR though. Nor what twist you'd need.

I load 170 Hornady for a friend that groups .5" with 11FS powder but they arent subsonic. Expansion will be an issue at subsonic. I know a number of guys who hunt with 350 using Hornady and Winchester ammo and every one of them say they have issues with the deer leaving a blood trail. Another friend is trying Maker bullets this year for the first time. We will see how it goes. I doubt the 350 would "whop" anything at subsonic. It becomes less than a 9x19 at those speeds.

Im sure youve seen these by now but Hornady Sub-x (product numer 3505) are 250gr ftx. Kinda spendy but a heavy jacketed option vs casting your own.

Update. Talked to friend today and he has taken 2 does with Maker 150 gr. He says they wreck complete destruction inside. 1 did not exit and busted thru 3 ribs. Body cavities full of blood but little leaked out the entrance hole. The other hit in brisket while facing him and bullet exited in front of hind quarter and missed the stomach. I likes them.

I just purchased 500 250 gr .357" Hornady Sub X , they are supposed to expand at 900 fps. The .357" dia is max dia for the 350 Legend chamber and is what Hornady made them for....I believe they have load data on line for them in the 350 legend...but I'm building a 358 Win AR to shoot them at super and sub velocities...to see what happens. Most of the machining done for the AR, threaded the barrel for a brake and re-crowned it.
Opened up the gas port, started lapping the barrel...put it together tomorrow....and wait 2 days for the dies to arrive...gonna experiment with 9mm, 357mag pistol bullets, and 160 gr .357 Fusion, 250 gr Sub X ... all the way up to 310 Woodleigh weld core.
