338LM prefered barrel twist and length?

Hello,

Going to rebarrel my 338LM Sako M995 TRG-S.
From the Sako website specs, the current barrel is 12" twist at 24 1/2" long.

I am looking to shoot 300 grains bullets.
What is the optimum twist rate and length?
Is there an app that calculates this?

My 338 1/10 tw barrel work fine with 300 grains bullets

I think I have a 10 twist finished at 30 inches. The extra barrel length helps some for velocity.

If you're interested in the monolithic solids such as those made by Lehigh Defense and Cutting Edge, you should get a 1:9 twist or possibly a bit faster.

I’m running at 9.3 twist 28 inch Bartlien

I believe that 12 twist is not fast enough for the 300 grain bullets. I use 10 twists and never had an accuracy problem. It wouldn't hurt to go with a 9.3 to 9.5 twist. Matt

Currently I have a 9.3 Broughton at almost 30". Next barrel will be a 8.5 twist Bart at 32". Plan on running some mono's with the next barrel. 10 or faster for the 300 Berger's.

I have one now that is 9.3, and two that are 1/10. Weatherby rifles in that caliber are also 9.3.
