338 Thin Jacket Bullet?

Does anybody make a thin jacket 338 bullet in the 250-ish weight range? I'm looking for something that will expand (preferably violently like a varmint bullet) at subsonic velocities.

Although I can’t imagine the difficulties sourcing this bullet, it could be a contender.
What cartridge are you working with?

I appreciate the link but I'll see what Hornady says first, that would have to be an ITAR headache. I'm putting together the 338 BR I've wanted for years and everything is falling together for a change...

Rate of twist?

My friend and I tested his .338 Whisper years ago. We used Sierra HPBT Match bullets which are a little soft. We shot groundhogs & deer with poor results.
My friend, JD Jones developed all the subsonic Whisper rounds. At his urging I tested a lot of bullets. .30 ca. Sierra 250 gr. HPBT Match bullets killed by tumbling and were a little soft. Most deer would die from these, but it took a while.
I found that Sierra 220 gr. RN would tumble & expand a little, but really put down deer, groundhogs, turkeys, and coyotes fast. I also tested bullets for Lehigh Defense in the Whisper. Their 186 gr. Controlled Chaos (with a .17 cal. bullet in it's hollow cavity) did about as good as the 220 Sierra. I was so happy with these two bullets in the .300 that I did not buy any of the other Whispers. I did shoot deer with the .375 & .500, but not the best results.
Bottom line, I'd recommed trying to find some RN .338s and looking at Lehigh Defenses Chaos bullets in .338. I've heard mixed results on Hornady Sub-X bullets. I'm so satisfied with the Sierra RN & Lehigh I'm not changing. My best kill with the 220 RN was a heavy 8 pt. buck in a driving rain/wind storm at 240 yds. He dropped at the shot. Not bad for a subsonic bullet.

I searched Lehigh Defence and it appears they no longer make .338 cal bullets; that’s a shame.
