338 lapua mag.

TRG-42, great rifle, easy to get running. Rifle likes 92.5gr H1000 with 300gr SMK. Have never tried it at range but did a 200-16X with it at 600yds but 5 sighters and 20 rounds for record even with the break was enough for me in the block time we had.

how much harder is it going to kick than a 300 win mag or 7mm rem mag? no muzzle brake on either one of those but a brake on the 338 lapua mag. im not 100 % sure im getting one but there's a good chance.

I would rather shoot a braked 338LM than an unbraked 300 win mag. The 300's I have shot have been hunting weight and 10-15 off bench or in the dirt is about all I can take, they slap the snot out of me where the 338 is more of a push. With heavier Sako braked I can shoot till the sun goes down.

I put 30 rounds through my rifle the first time I ever shot it. Quit when I did because I was running outta daylight. Didn't have any flinch issues by the time I was done.

Was at a rifle course where 2 guys had 338s and the class required 100 rounds a day. By mid morning the second day, they were using high density foam pads to supplement their recoil pads. By the end of that day, I was tired of my 308.

In moderation it won't be bad. Shooting lots at one time will make you sore.

My McMillan rifle is a fairly heavy piece and it is also has a brake. My 270WSM kicks more than the 338. For the monster of a cartridge it is, it is actually quite mild to shoot in the recoil department. I shoot 300gr SMK's @2730fps

If you have any questions please let me know.

Edit

Did not get a pic of the break but it is a stock AR-30 break.
