338 Lapua load data

I recently purchased a McMillan TAC 338 and am looking for some help on load developement. I will be starting using Sierra MK 250,300gr bullets. I have lapua brass to use. The rifle has a 27.5" bbl. Ideally,I prefer to use the 300 gr bullets because of the retained energy downrange. The rifle will be primarily used for long range deer/elk hunting.Anybody have any info on performance of this outfit. By all accounts,it should be a top performer from what I researched.

Please do not take offense with my reply as I too own a 338 LM and love it to pieces but what on earth could you need it for in a deer hunting scenario?

I have shot the 300 Sierra out to 600 yards on paper and had it shoot clear through 6 or 7 inches of wood,stacked 2x4's) with plenty of energy left to bury itself DEEP into the surrounding ground. On top of that I would never take a shot a game out that distance as it is just too likely to wound and I pride myself in clean quick kills.
In at shorter distances, say like 250 to 400 yards there are plenty of other cartridges that fill the bill without recoil and excess energy.

Now, having said that I like using either H-1000 or Retumbo under the 300 gr. Sierra.
I used just over 100 gr. of H-1000 and 92.5 gr. of Retumbo.
They go over the screens in the high 2500's to low 2600 fps range depending on ambient temps.
I am shooting an AR-30 with the incorporated muzzle brake.
Felt recoil is quite tolerable but muzzle blast is HORRIFIC. Do Not be immediately beside it when someone is firing and be sure to clear the shooting bench or the blast will do it for you.

gary I was looking at hodgens web page and I saw that they said 92gr is a max load for a 300gr bullet.
