338 lapua build need some help!!

10 twist or slightly faster for 300's. Some run 9's but 10 will get 'er done.
Consider a Brux barrel too.

dont forget mike rock--rock creek barrels. if you do a benchmark, try a 3R, they are sweet

Something to think about.....

I'd consider a 338/300 Ultra instead of the Lapua. Load data and performance is identical between the two, and your not stuck with a bastard bolt size forever, meaning you can chamber up any barrel your heart desires on a .532 case size.

Look for a 9" twist barrel. Thats fine for 250-300grain.
10" is best for 250grain.

The barrel manufacurer is not important. Take a look which barrel maker offer you the best tolerances. Some manufacturer also offer selected barrels in very low measured tolerances.

A 1:10 twist and it shoots the 300gr SMK with out any problems even in the coldest days.

It'll be a way nose heavy unless you weight the stock to balance.

Perfect if you want a 20+ pound gun....

With a good muzzle break you will not need that thick of a tube.
