338 LAPUA BRAKE

Out of the 3 brakes I've tried on my 338LM the Terminator T4 seemed to reduce recoil the most.I've since replaced it with an EC Tuner Brake and though I don't think it's as effective as the T4(5 port compared to the EC 4 port)I've gotten so used to recoil after 475 rounds of Berger 300 gr. OTM's the little bit of extra felt recoil from the EC doesn't seem to bother me at all.

If you have an inclination to use a suppressor, take a look at the Surefire brake/adapter. I have it on my Sako TRG 338 and it is smooth.

I have a Area 419 sidewinder now on my 300 NMI
The Beast brake is more efficient, bigger but reduces recoil better than the sidewinder.

My .338 Lapua is a Savage 110 BA and came from the factory with a muzzle brake, so I have no idea what make the brake is, but the recoil is low - about like a 9 pound .308 Win.

And because of the brake, it is by far the loudest rifle I own, lol.

5 Port Super Beast II from Muzzlebrakesandmore.com

Makes my 338 Edge feel like my 22-250. The Edge also weighs 20 lbs with a 28" MTU contour barrel, so take that in consideration as well.

I also used an APA Fat Bastard, which wasn't as effective and just as heavy and long.

The T4 and the APA FB Gen 3 are very close. The APA helps stay on target a bit more while the T4 has a touch less recoil. Toss up really.
However take a good look at SRS Titanium 5 ports at 1/2 the weight.

On my 338 LM I use a APA break. Had others shoot mine and they have changed their break to a APA break. I run their breakers on all my rifles.

I am looking for the very best recoil brake performance i can get. All info appreciated
I've tried 4 brakes prior to buying the brake I have now. Ross Shuler made it who recently sold his business to another. He may still be apart of the business not sure but they still make the brakes. I've had some brake 3-4 times the price of the one I have now and none provided better recoil reduction. Just my .02. It's real life experience based on comparisons. MBM makes very similar brakes only Nathan makes adjustable brakes and a bigger variety. Kelly Driesel owns Ross Brakes today and has the same brake available.
