I put this assembly together the winter of '19/'20 and shot out the original barrel in '20/'21. I fit and bedded a new barrel in June '22 and shot it once in July, once in August, once in December and just don't have the time or space for it anymore.
I would like to sell everything as a package for $3000 shipping included. I'll break it down into four shipments: barreled action and stock (to an FFL holder), the scope, the cleaning rod, and the dies/brass/reamer&gauge.
The action started as a Winchester M70 Classic Stainless in 300RUM and I milled out the rear of the magazine well for a Wyatt's extended box. The internal length is approximately 3.840" and windowed to hold three rounds down. I'm a stickler for good feeding and this setup feeds very well with rounds short enough to fit the box. It'll hold 1+1 with longer rounds with the bullet tip sitting in the feed ramp. FWIW, it feeds .300WinMags very well too.
The receiver threads have also been opened up to 1.0625" and the receiver faced perpendicular to the threads. The bolt face has also been dressed to match the receiver.
The bottom metal is a PTG "Oberndorf" style long action M70 also milled out to accept the Wyatt box. It's nothing fancy to look at but is robust and works.
The barrel is a 29" 1-9.5 Brux Heavy Varmint with a five-port Beast by Muzzle Brakes and More. The overall weight of the rifle and scope is 17lbs and with the Beast brake, a 300gr bullet at 2700 recoils about like a .243. The barrel currently has 100 documented rounds - 40 rounds of 300grSMKs over IMR7977 and 60 rounds of 285ELDs over H1000. The ELD/H1000 loads were worked up and all the groups shot in load development averaged 0.89", prone off a backpack and bipod at 200 yards.
The stock is an McMillan A-5 originally inlet for a short action and bedded with Marine Tex. The barrel is fully bedded forward to roughly the balance point and free floated forward from there.
The scope is a Nightforce NXS N429, 3.5-15x, 50mm, sunshade, ZeroStop, .250moa clicks and includes Butler Creek caps, the original box and paperwork, an EGW 20MOA rail, and Leupold 30mm Medium Weaver style rings.
Also included:
-Montana X-treme 44" cleaning rod, p/n 9210
-PTG .338 Edge reamer that has cut two chambers, a PTG .338 Edge Go-Gauge
-Redding FL neck bushing die and Competition Seater (directly from Defensive Edge)
-100pc Norma .300RUM once fired in original barrel
I would like to sell everything as a package but will entertain splitting out individual items if nobody is interested in the whole. First post of interest here or via PM gets priority.
Lastly, this will be shipping from an individual at a remote site north of Kodiak Island in Alaska. We currently get mail once a week on Fridays (weather permitting!) so please bear with me regarding shipping times.
Thanks for looking!
