338-284

I plan on building a 338-284 on a Rem. 700 long action. My problem is, I don't have any reloading data for this caliber.
If anyone has any loading data they could share with me I would really appreciate it Jimbo

I thought about posting this article, but it would take too much room... anyway the answer is in this link and it's quite interesting...

I too have thought of this wildcat, only I am looking at using a Savage for my action. Please post your progress with your project.

I have been using a 338/06 for about 27 years. If there is anything on this continent that it will not handle I have not heard of it. The capacity of the 338/284 should be very similar to that of the 338/06. Therefore, anything you can do with the 338/06 can be done with the 338/284.

Mine is throated so that the base of the Nosler 250gr bullet is about 60 thou ahead of the neck/shoulder junction. My favorite powder is H4350. You can push the 250Nos to 2500fps, easily. I think it is a wonderful cartridge. Two local friends of mine both have 338/06 rifles. They both use the 210 Nosler bullets. I forget the velocities but they are impressive. My experience, with the 338/06 is limited to several Caribou and bunches of whitetail deer.

I do believe that for flawless feeding, the 338/06 has it over the 284 family, unless the rifle had the rails dimensioned for that cartridge from the beginning. An opinion.....
