.338/284 anyone?

Anyone have experience with this round? After reading about the straight 284 in guns of the week on a RP700 SA, I thought about the same thing but in .338. I have lots of 180-210 gr .338 bullets, and that combo should net more umph than a 338 Fed. Just curious to see if anyone knows if there are/would be feeding issues with a limit COAL with 200 gr NBT for magazine feeding.

The great unsung wildcat, imho...

I have a .338-06. Hornady #26 shows .30-06 data and .30/284 as interchangeable.

The 06 case is really too long to use the high BC .338 bullets. Any .284 case belongs in a LA again mho.
Should really get best of all worlds with it. Already has a 35deg shoulder so all benefits of AI accrue.

If not too overly concerned w/velocity, the .338/284 can likely compete well with .338win mag. Get a couple of cast bullet molds and really have it all.... use 210gr Partition or Barnes and you're set for hunting. I use the Sierra 250 gameking in my magnums instead of match bullet even for longrange. They work. Sierra 215s likely a fine choice to for all-around use.

No experiance, but count me in. Sat at the loading bench a week ago looking over a 284 case, and a 338 Win Mag case. Seems like a match made in heaven to me. For pills from 180gr Ballistic tips to the 225gr Hornady it should be a elk, black bear/deer round with punch. Build mine on a long action and I'll be one happy camper.

The guy i shoot with has just built a 375/284 he loves it. He was shooting with the benchrest friends of ours and says he was competitive.
