Went to our Cabin in SC PA for the Holiday weekend. I went out about 0800 to see if any were thirsty after the thunder storms Friday night. At 1015 one decided to show itself at 289 yards and the 70 gr. BlitzKing from my slow twist, 14tw, .243AI made short work of it. Sorry the photo was extremely graphic and I opted not to share. Lets just say the only thing left of the head and neck was a flap and I never saw a Chuck bleed that much! The heat started to get to me so back for hydration as I was only 3 miles from Camp. At 1330 after eating and a "Power Nap" I headed back out. I just sat down on a knoll when one stood up at 127 yards. The kicker came when a small rise made shooting prone impossible. I had my low bi-pod on figuring I would be shooting prone or from a picnic table someone had built by a small Travel Trailer they had dragged up there years ago. The Trailer is no longer used but the bench is still stable. I had to rest my elbows on my knees from a sitting position with a 15lb. rifle clearly not designed to be shot this way! Fortunately the Jewel 1lb. trigger made the break easier and the Chuck disappeared. When I walked down I was greeted by the biggest Chuck I have seen in a while!

I remained there for only a short time as the heat was brutal. The table is in the shade so I made my way to it. I no sooner sat down and one stands up at 339 yards. I didn't take the time to range and rushed to fire the shot and shortly found out I missed! 1 minute later back up he stands and this time I take the extra several seconds to settle down and after the trigger broke I was greeted by the "Pop" of a bullet strike! I surrendered to heat and went back to grill Venison steaks over the charcoal!
