30x55 swed imp

My guess would be, unless shooting the lighter weight 30 cal bullets, the velocities would be fairly low. Take a look at the 7.5x55 Swiss velocities ;)

there is very little that the old timers have not done....Chad Turner (Parkersburg WV) has a series of wildcats on the Swede case --6mm-6.5mm-7mm-30cal-- all with min body taper and 40* shoulder...he calls them "TNT" !! ...he has built many competitive rifles and can answer all ???'s ....the case is near .284/30-06 capacity...and performance,,,Roger
ps,,since the case capacity is in between the 308 and 30-06 the MV's willbe right inbetween also,,,for all 30 cal bullet weights...125 thru 200 ....hope this makes sense

say what?
I shoot a couple of 6.5x55 BJAI cartridges. I can get into the 3000 fps range with 142 grain bullets very accurately. The 7.5x55 Swiss will ring out roughly 2800 fps with the 150 grain bullet and decent accuracy. Necked up to 30 caliber with anything heavier than the 150 grain bullet would be an even greater loss in velocity. That was my reason for referencing the 7.5x55 Swiss. We have the best of both worlds at each end of the spectrum right now. The 308-7.62x51 and 30-06 - 7.62x63.

Id say thay velocity estamation sounds low, how much powder ya using?

It's actually more than 3/4 full, and that happens to be where the cartridge is at it's peak accuracy in my gun. I strayed away from hot-rodding my cartridges long ago. My barrels and brass last longer, my guns like it, and if I need more horsepower, I'll use a bigger cartridge. For me, accuracy comes first.

So is the 47 grns of H 4895 produceing the 3000 fps you mentioned becose that sounds fairly warm for case size?
No. That is in my 6.5x55 BJ WITH THE 142 GR SMK using MRP.

Well now im confused, I thought we've been talking about BJ size case and somehow in there it went to a none improved case capacity. If your getting 3000 with a 6.5 bore id guess going up to a 30 cal bore ill pick up easily 125 fps but prolly more in similiar weight bullet.
