30x47 Load Data

I have been all over trying to find load info for this round, if anyone has some or can steer me in the right direction to find some I would be grateful.
I will be loading either 110 Sierra's or 120 10X's using IMR 4895 if possible.
Thanks.

Hey froggy. Do a search here. Eddie Harren answered that question for me by sending me a bunch of old shooting magazines. I think? I posted pics of the load data pages the “winners” shot. I’m running this morning. I can dig them out this evening if you don’t find them. Josh

I have the 30x47 on the 300 Savage case and it don't matter what bullet I use from 150 gr down to 125 gr a full case, 42 grs or IMR 4895 is THE load. This was a rifle built for hunter class benchrest back in the 1980s that I got in an estate sale very inexpensive because you had to be an experienced handloader with wildcat experience to be able to shoot it. I kind of fell in the out house and came out smelling like a rose on this one LOL. I just use it to deer hunt with and informal paper punching. Bug hole accurate with anything I shoot in it. 41 grs IMR 4895 with 168 gr bullets. I have not shot anything lighter than the 125 Nosler BT in it but this bullet is AWESOME as a deer killer.

Though, "on the slow side" for the light weight bullets (<135 Gr. or, so) H-4895 is a good powder - per 2506 above. With the 110-125 Gr. bullets, H-322, and/or N-133 are top notch. Many powders are suitable" RL-7; BenchMark; N-135, etc. can all provide excellent precision and, if you want it, velocity.
For bullets of 135 Gr. and up, Win-748 and H-4895 are tough to beat.RG

Yesterday at the 100 yard range any where from 40.8 - 41.6 gr. with a 125 Sierra 18 for 18 key holed the target.
I just loaded some 110's starting at 42 up to 42.9 gr. but can't try until Friday.
Almost forgot this is an 18 twist Krieger barrel, and will be used for Hunter class score.

Joshb I tried searching before I posted and then again using Eddie Harren in the search NOTTA my search abilities must suck.

Your 125 Sierra is too long for the 18 twist. I had a good, long conversation about them with Randy Robinett. I was trying to use them in my 30 br 15 twist and they didn’t work. They need a 12 twist. I bought 500 Speer TNT 125s. They’re shorter and should work, I’m told. I haven’t tried them yet as I went into a 6.5-47 and 6br craze. New barrels needed to be tested.;)

The 1:18" twist will not like FB bullet in excess of 1.050" long (shorter is better). BT will need to be shorter yet. RG

joshb and RGR thank you very much for the info you gave to me.
After speaking with a long time hunter class shooter from Maine ( who holds a few records in IBS) I stuffed as much IMR 4895 into these cases as I dared:eek:. Right now I am almost half way up the neck with 43 gr.. Started at 42 and went up gently to 43 I'll see where I end up with these 110's.
