Hello everyone,
I am considering to build a rifle for Silhouette Matches,max. dist. 200 meters) and for a kind of Score Benchrest match,like F-Class) at 300 meters. The rifle would not be heavy because Silhouette shooting is done standing. The score match is on bipod.
The barrel I am considering would be like a #5 contour by Krieger,bull sporter).
I first considered the 7mmBR caliber. But I think it produces low velocities for 300 meters score match,the wind will drift the 130 bullets much away).
So I am looking very careful to the 30BR caliber.
I already have lots of 168gr and 150gr. match bullets in .308 diameter, so I am thinking if a 30BR rifle built to shoot 125gr. bullets will shoot heavier bullets good too.
My accuracy requirements are not very high, but have to be consistent as we fire 40 shots in about 30 minutes,barrel heating...) :
0,50 inches for five 5 shots groups at 100 meters for 125gr,score match);
0,75 inches for five 5 shots groups at 100 meters with the heavier bullets, 150 to 168gr,silhouette match).
Is it possible to have this kind of accuracy with just one barrel?
What twist would be better?
Also, what kind of velocity I would get with the heavier bullets?
I know that the two disciplines have not much in common, but in my country we are limited on the number of guns we can have, so they must be versatile.
Thank you in advance for any opinion, ideas, etc.
