30BR - How far out is it good for non-competition...

As far as hair splitting accuracy goes, we know the 30BR is a fine choice. BUT I am wondering how far this accuracy goes with the 112 to 118 range bullet weights. I know by reading, for sure 300 yards easy... But what does the 30BR do after 300 yards is my question?

For those that have em, shoot em, know about em, I'd love to hear what the 30BR does at 300 to 600 yards....

A few years back I saw a few show up at 600 yard IBS matches but they
did not finish very high. You don't see them anymore at 600 matches.
BuckCreek, Ky has 440 yd. competition and they win some of those matches.

I would assume your limitations would be on the light weight flat bullets. Maybe with a different twist rate and some 135's it may do a little better.

I built a 30 BR for shooting in the hotter months here in S. Az. I had the throat made longer than the standard Robinette throat. I wanted to be able to shoot the 168 match kings at the time.

We have a rifle range to the West of Tucson that has a silhouette range. There are permanent 4 inch thick javelina at 300m and Rams at 500m I like to shoot. The 168 does drift some at 500M but with some hold over it is still fun to wack them.

I recently switched to 175 Sierra MK and am getting 2388 fps from a 24" barrel. In a 10 MPH crosswind the bullet will be moved approx 21" BUT I don't try with those wind speeds.

If it is less than a 5 mph crosswind I can get groups that are around 2-3" on the 500 M ram. Lots of fun with no recoil and can shoot 10 in a row before the barrel gets warm.

Guy in our club brought his 30BR to the 600 Yard match a couple years ago and if I remember correctly he shot some 2.5 inch groups but the wind got him on a couple as well ::)

I've shot two matches at buck creek this year, and the 30's have cleaned up first place both times. Really hard to beat at a 1/4 mile even though you can count to one before impact.
