I have competed and won with a 30BR at 300 and 500 yard mates, as I have with a 6PPC also, if conditions are favorable. If your committed to 1 rifle though for 300 I would highly recommend a 30 x 47 over the 30 BR. It will be far superior to the 30 BR in the wind.First post here - all advises are highly welcome!
I'm from Germany and looking for a benchrest rifle for 300 meter target score discipline.
A possible candidate is a 30BR. But the issue is, that according to the German C.I.P regulation, a minimum freebore should be at least .157" (G-h = 4mm)

Therefore, the nice 112-118 BIB bullets, Robinett Reamer and 17 - 18 twist will probably not work here...
So here are the questions:
- What bullets and what twist would you take?
- Is that even worth to try under these circumstances?
- If not - what could be an alternative in .308 boltface?
Cheers
