30BR 308 x 1.5 What twist rate for, what barrel profile for?

I am intrigued by this/these cartridges. Are there differences between the two? It seems extremely efficient, and more useful than the smaller 300AAC or Whisper. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on this/these despite having been around for quite some time. I would love to know if anyone has made or is making a barrel for the Armalite AR10 in this caliber and what twist rate would be the best for lighter bullets, medium weight bullets, and which would be best for heavier bullets. My AR10T has a heavy barrel, I think it would handle this caliber just fine.
I would love to see any of the major gun makers come out with a premium, trued up action with a lighter barrel profile for hunting, the round certainly has enough power to hunt deer, coyotes, wolf, probably even elk. But then hunting depends on the skill of the hunter as I've seen elk dropped with one shot from a 223.
Does anyone else think this is an awesome cartridge?

Yep the 30 BR is an awesome round. It has been used successfully in competition and for hunting deer. I know Butch Lambert built one for his grandson and has been wearing those deer out with that rifle. Most people are shooting a 1:17 twist barrel shooting 120g and lighter pills. 4198 seems to be the powder of choice. I have barreled a couple of different 30 BR's and one was an old 30x44 that we re-chambered for the 30 BR with a 1:15.5 twist and it shoots lights out with 120g benchrest bullets. I have both the Robinett reamer and the Jackie Schmidt reamer. The only difference in the two is the length of the neck. Jackie blows out his brass (instead of expanding in a press) so the neck is longer. He made his reamer a little longer so he did not have to trim brass. The two guns I have chambered have been either a LV contour on a VFS/Varmint rifle or Hunter contour for fun shoots. I see no reason why a lighter hunting countour would not work with this round.

Maybe Butch will chime in and tell us what contour he built for his hunting rifle. Sorry I can not help with the 308x1.5. I have no first hand experience with this round.

I say it is the easiest round to make shoot ,its silly crazy how easy it is to find the tune. I have shot mine jammed hard to 8 thou into the lands , its always been the lot of powder and that has been the difference for me, start at 33 grains of 4198 and go up a couple of clicks 33.3 33.5 etc its always been good around 34 to 34.5 and there are others that have used reloader 7 ,I have always used 4198. The 1st time out with mine I shot a 0.96 and lots of groups in the ones. Its fun to shoot. I just put one together last week went out fireform 15 pic new brass, went back sized the brass loaded 34 gr. 4198 117 cheeks pills into the lands 8 thou. shot a 50 5x wipeout target and a 196 group.
