308 win recipies from 20"

Hello everyone. I recently purchased a 700 in 308 win. It has a 20" barrel with 12 twist. I loaded some 130's with various powder weights but cannot get better than 1" to 1 1/4"groups at 100. Thinking that the twist might be better suited for heavier bullets, I bought a box of 168's. Hoping you guys have a recipe for these out of a 20" barrel. This rifle will only get used for hunting when my son grows into it which is what the 130's are for. Inch groups are plenty good for hunting whitetails around here but I'd still like to know the firearms full potential.

HI Austin ........you didnt say how much of what type of powder...but I know in xp-100 and Tompson Contender,Encore) most cals are more accurate and "work better" with faster powders....even as fast as 4198!!!! ...consult some manuals...I cant give a load rite now...but will if u e-mail me...Roger

I am shooting a Remington Model 7 with a 20" tube. I am loading LV match brass with 150 grain Sciroccos ahead of a heafty dose of W-748 and BR-4 primers. I actually am loading 4.5 grains hotter load than in the hottest loading manual, not a load to start with. I am getting 3019fps and .5 moa at 100 yards. The bonded Sciroccos do a great job on whitetails.

Sorry for the lack of details.
wwsuper case trimmed to 2.015
Hornady 130 gr soft points
H335 powder started at 41 grains, also shot 44,45,45.5,and 46. This is stuff I had on hand so it was used. I guess i should have asked the question-do you guys think the twist is ok for 130's or should I be shooting a hevier bullet? Thanks in advance.

p.s. my name actually is spelled Austan. I get Austin all the time so no problem.

I have a 21 1/2 inch 12 twist 308 Heart barrel on a 700 Rem that shoots lights out with a 125 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip over 46 grs. IMR 4895, WW case, CCI -BR2 primer, OAL 2.742 . This runs about 2950 fps and I have killed about 10 deer with it in the last 4 years and not a one has take a step after being hit. It either knocks them down or they drop like the ground was snatched from under them. It has light recoil also for the little guy.
