.308 win for FTR

I gonna order a new reamer for chamber a new barrel for FTR.

There are many detail of reamer that available on market. I just end up by call Dave @ PTG and he recommend this spec for me;

For a single shot 308 FTR no turn we recommend a .341 nk with .168 fb. this is also for a load round measure .338 nk.

341 nk will suitable for these brass?

Reloading Brass
Lapua Brass
Federal Brass

Factory Ammo
Federal Gold Medal 168 - 175
Blackhill Match 175 SMK
M118LR

My worried was about .168 freebore as Dave recommend for single shot will result with long jump when shooting with 168 - 175 gr bullet.

I had read the rifle journal which wrote by Germàn A.Salazar about .308 win chamber for heavier bullet. He mention that the longer freebore than .123" will not proper for bullet lighter than 175 gr.

My plan for selection of bullet that I prefer was
168 - 190 gr.

So, the fb of .168 will create problem with me?

If you are only shooting out to 190gr bullets then the FB recommended would be a little long and probably fine for 180-210gr bullets. I use 0.120" for projectiles from 155 to 185gr without any problems. The 168gr Berger Hybrid has a short bearing surface but still offers a variety of seating depth options in the 0.120" FB.

I did some research and reading and bought the .308 95 Palma reamer for my F-TR build. I am going to use the Berger 168 Hybrid, it shoots really good in my Rem. factory 5R barrel.
Grizzly has that reamer in stock for 95.00 They also have 2 other 308 reamers in stock, they are all made by PTG. It will save you some wait time and a couple $$ You can find the specs for those reamers on the Grizzly site.

Will those 95 Palma Reamer suitable for 175 - 185 LRBT?

I used the 95 palma when I built mine and several others. It worked great with 168 gr bullets out to 600, but I would not recommend it for 175 grs. groups opened up and unexplained flyers were the norm.

So this reamer will not suitable for me. Due to I prefer 175 as my main projectile and some 185 LRBT.

I would seat the bullet you want to shoot and check the FB. I would go with that measurment, you can make the throat longer later if that is what you find you need. It is a lot harder to shorten the throat after it is cut.

The 95 Palma reamer is designed for the old Sierra 155's. You can use that reamer, but you will need to throat it about .060 more for the 185's.

To make a precision throating, I should purchase a set of adjustsble micrometer for use with throat reamer which may expensive than just order a new reamer.

Decide what bullet (bullets) and brass (big difference in neck diameter between Lapua and Federal or Winchester) you want to use. Seat a couple of dummy rounds to the OAL that you prefer and send them out to Dave Kiff and let him spec the reamer off of them.
If the longest bullet you plan to use is the Berger 185 Juggernaut fine. The 185 Hybrid is a different animal as the nose is very long. If you ever plan on loading to magazine length you could have problems with the hybrid since it must be seated deep in the case to accommodate that long nose. If you only ever plan on single loading then this won't become a factor.
A bullet I would also suggest is the Berger 175 Tactical OTM I've had a lot of success with this bullet out to 1000 yards.
When the winds really up however my go to bullet is the Berger 185 Juggernaut formerly the LRBT.

I have 175 LRBT around 1,500 bullets on hand and 185 LRBT around 600 rounds.

My brass was Lapua Brass for competition and Federal (FC 11) for practices.

Any suggestion for reamer spec?

Yes... get the one Dave Kiff recommended to you. It's a '95 Palma throated longer for exactly the bullets you want to use.
