308 win and 190 - 200 bullets

Looking for powder recomendations. A friend of mine just baught a used 308 win and he asked me for some help. But, the 308 is not directly in my wheel house.

Check out Sierra's 308win manual imr4064 is recommend about 40.5 grs with a 190smk

Several powders would work but the two im personally using are Varget and N-150 (both single based). Both work well if you can find em.

I've had luck using RL-17 and N550 with the heavies.

For many years, IMR4064 was the powder of choice for Highpower shooters using 190-200gr bullets from 22-26" barrels for shooting 600-1000yds.

If it's got a longer barrel on it tell him to go get some imr4007sc nd start loading. My rifle has a 30" barrel on it. I still need to crony my loads but it shoots well
