308 Win and 185 gr Juggernuats

Having a new barrel smithed to go on my F TR rifle. A 308 Win. I'm going to use the 185 gr Berger juggernaut bullets and Varget. The barrel is a Bartlein 30" 5R. fb of .168". Using lapua Palma brass and probably cci 450 primers.

With this setup what MV should I expect ? Is it still the norm to start with the bullets jammed or just at the jam to start load development and work out ? Where do you that use these bullets end up for seating?

What's a good powder charge starting point ?

Thanks again

Mine runs about 2740, .015 off the lands, same freebore, CCI BR primers in Palma brass. Current lot of Varget is 44.3gr, last lot was 44.0.

Basically the same as Jeremy said.

I shot 44.2 with that same freebore. 2750ish plus or minus is a sweet spot. I had almost a 1/2 gr powder charge change on my last powder lot change, so work it up.

Hmm. Is Jeremy actually running BR primers, or is he just trying to make us think he is running BR primers? You never know about that guy.

Fed Magnum Match Small Pistol for this weekend. Secret Sauce.

Too late for your trickery. I already loaded all my ammo. Best looking batch of seven slingers I have seen.

Jumping 0.013", Lapua Palma brass, CCI 450 primers, 46.0gn Varget = ~2750fps from a 30" Krieger with 2013 USFTR chamber (0.170" freebore).
