308 VLDs for 600-1000y

Find it hard in my location to get berger VLDs for my 308 so was Looking for weight range of berger VLD bullets that would be good choice for long range 600-100y for my Blaser LRS2 308 rifle which has a 1 in 11 twist 24 inch barrel,was thinking of 175g VLD weight range might be good weight for long range what speed should i be aiming for with the 175g VLDs 2750+ ? in my other 243 LRS2 barrel the 95g VLDs jammed to Lands were outstanding so was hoping the bergers would be good to go in my 308 barrel, thanks.

Paul,

Your 11" twist is capable of stabilizing all of the Berger 30 cal VLDs so you have many choices. We are working hard to make more bullets but you rifle is capable of shooting whichever Berger's you find so give any a try.

This isn't sales hype. I'll go so far as to offer you replacement bullets of another weight if those you find don't shoot in your rifle.

I really like the 175vld's,though they did not fly as acurate as the 175smk's

Did you try the 175 gr VLD touching or .010 into the lands?

I have been shooting Berger 175 VLD in my 308 for 2 years now and they are the most accurate bullet I have ever used by far. I also use their new 270 bullet and they are just as good. I shoot out to 1000 yds and my best load is Lapua brass 44.5 gr of Varget CCI BR-2 primer 175 VLD jammed in the lands. My groups went from over 10 in at 1000 to under by changing from SMK to Berger.
