.308 still a winner

In the Ontario Fullbore Champs Aug 8, the Saturday F Class Main Aggregate,300, 500, 600, 900) was won by a .308 shooting F,R) with 155 Scenars out of a MacLennon barrel on a Rem action. He beat all of the big boys in F,O) with their 6AI, 6.5/284, 6.5X47, 6BR and even a .257/243 Imp. Just proves it is still up to the shooter`s ability to read the wind.

Quirky thing was the shooter had broken the extractor on the Rem bolt so he had a second Rem bolt with him from another rifle to extract the fired cases. Now that is concentration - keeping track of which bolt is in the rifle while scoring your shooting partner, reading the wind and plotting your own shots.

oldblue: will see the chap in two weeks at the Fall ORA Match in Kingston, Ontario and will get the load details then.

Meanwhile, just got back from the Canadian Fullbore Champs in Ottawa where a .308 in F,R) shot a perfect 600 in a preliminary 300 metre Sierra ISU match on Aug 14 to tie an F,O) shooting a 6BR Imp. Both shooters from Quebec. The .308 particulars are:

Kreiger barrel
46 gr Varget
155 Berger VLD
Norma brass
CCI BR2
