308 Sierra 168gr TMK

Does anybody have any load data they could post?
I'm really interested knowing were I should start with my O.A.L?
Since these bullets look to be about .113 longer.
I would be using Benchmark, IMR4895 and H335 powder.

For what chambering are you looking for a load? 30 caliber bullets are used in several cartridges.

I would be using a Remington 700 VLS in .308
1:12 twist.

I would seat one to mag length and see what happens. I doubt you'll touch the lands.

None of those powders look optimum for a 308win with a 168. I don't know if my method is right or best but, I look at the speed of the listed loads and the pressure they get that speed at. I went to Hodgdon's site to the reloading data center and looked at the powders you listed, I looked at max loads at the FPS and many were at max pressure. Varget was listed at a good speed but at 7-8 thousand psi less than the rest. Look at the data that they provide and see what you think. Only you can make this decision and someone else's load may never make you happy, or worse could be unsafe. Some of the go to powders for 308 are Varget (you may not be able to find it), Reloader 15, IMR 4064. I like win 760 for my 308 and 260 win. But my 308 load is slow, but accurate. Look around and learn, don't take my or anone else's word for it. Make it your load!

Varget 44.5-45.5, oal 2.850, Lapua brass, WW primers. Nothing special but it works great in my REM 700 308, 26", Hvy bbl factory rifle. May have to play with seating depth a bit. 2.850 is where mine shoots best. Still fits in mag as well.

Just used this load in my first PRS match

IMR 4064
42.5gr
LC LR 08 brass
CCI 200 primers
Loaded to 2.875

They are running 2700fps in a 24" barrel

Compared it to M118 LR ammo running at 2740 FPS data is on par with that load
