308 round nose

Steve, The Remington Core-Lokt comes in a 180 gr. soft point, i.e. round nose. The bullet is well known for it's terminal ballistics on light skinned animals. We can debate the round nose requisite if you choose..

Winchester's 200 grain round nose bullet in their factory 308 Win was a great moose and elk buster. Out performed the same bullet in 30-40 Krags back in its day. Think it was their Silvertips.

Reloads using them with 47 to 48 grains of IMR4350 pushed 'em out about 2400 fps.

Lol jd I got a bunch gave to me and heard there a hammer.steve

I think they'd probably kill a dear.:p

If I'd had a bunch gave to me I'd love to tell the guy that gave em that I'd knocked down a buck with em.

And I'd probably just use a case full of IMR 4064, or 4320, since I had a bunch of that gave to me.:) 4895 would be fine also. Don't take my word for it, but I think any charge sufficient for those bullets will probably be compressed with those powders. jd

Highest velocity at max safe pressure with Sierra's 30 caliber 200 grain HPMK bullet in 308 cases was about 2450 to 2500 fps with 48 grains of IMR4350.

A very accurate load winning matches and setting records.
