308 project

Hey everyone,

Sooner than later I hope to build my long range rifle for precision rifle matches and would like to chamber it in .308 Win. I'll be shooting out to 1000 yards and figure I'll need a 10 twist barrel in order to shoot 175g and heavier bullets. First, any comments on bullet and twist choice? Secondly, I'm unsure of the appropriate barrel length to use in order to keep the bullets supersonic at 1000 yards...Thanks.

What disipline?
A 1/12- 24' and longer will keep a 175 bullet stabilized to 1K
The longer the barrel you use, the better the velocity. The better the velocity = better wind bucking ability. If you plan to shoot bullets above 175 I would go with a 1/10 or 1/11.25
