.308 Neck Clearance

Getting ready to turn the necks of some Lapua .308 brass. The reamer used has a neck diameter of .339. Now I kind of remember reading/hearing a while back that the .308 Win likes more neck clearance than say the .003 I typically use for my 6mm stuff. Any truth to this or is .003 under the loaded round adequate for the .308 Win.

Thanks, TimP

In both .284 Shehane and .308 Win, I got occasional flyers with .0025-.003" clearance. When I went to .004-.0045, the flyers ended. I don't have a theory to explain it. I jump bullets in both calibers.

Thanks for the info Steve.
