.308 load for M1 Garand

i posted in reloading forum too, but got no input...

I am going to load some .308 ammo for the M1. using d46 bullets from Lapua (175gr rebated boat tails) for a 3x600 match going to use virgin LC brass (crimped primer). with 42 gr of imr 4064. couple of questions.
1) is the load too hot?
2) stick with the 2.800 coal or touch the lands? gonna single load them all so do the d46s want to be jumped or jammed. all comments welcome!! thanks

Doc, that load will be fine. I like to jump the D46 about 0.020", they have a tough jacket. Excellent bullet and a great rifle - enjoy them!

German,
Thank you so much for the advice. You and bryan think alike in the jumping idea, though he said he never loaded for them. but said the design should not be sensetive to jumping(requiring jamming). the buddy is a new shooter, and i am not trying to re arrange his dental work the first time out. thank you again.
